23日下午，市政协召开常委会会议。会议由市政协主席崔建军主持。 会议听取各组召集人关于政协常委会工作报告、提案工作报告和政府工作报告等讨论情况的汇报，审议通过市政协七届二次会议选举办法和选举大会总监票员、监票员建议名单，通过政协第七届揭阳市委员会常务委员会部分组成人员正式候选人名单，审议通过市政协七届二次会议决议（草案）。 市政协副主席袁文键、陈奇春、吴少珍、江少明、陈锐彬、林春霖、柯东风和秘书长李丽曼等出席会议。
