7日上午，市政协召开七届十二次常委会会议。会议由市政协副主席袁文键主持。 会议审议通过了有关人事事项，同意王媛媛等11位同志辞去政协第七届揭阳市委员会委员职务，增补方伟斌等18位同志为政协第七届揭阳市委员会委员。 会议还审议本次会议选举办法（草案）及选举大会总监票员、监票员建议名单；听取中共揭阳市委关于政协第七届揭阳市委员会常务委员会部分组成人员候选人提名情况；酝酿协商政协第七届揭阳市委员会常务委员会部分组成人员候选人建议名单。 市政协副主席陈奇春、吴少珍、江少明、陈锐彬、林春霖、柯东风和秘书长李丽曼等出席会议。
