Recent simulation studies published on arXiv suggest that Uranus and Neptune may contain molten rock oceans beneath their icy exteriors, challenging the traditional definition of ice giants. Scientists call for an orbital probe to verify the hypothesis through direct gravitational and magnetic field measurements.
